Esther tells how a Jewish queen courageously intervenes when Haman plots to destroy her people. Although God is not named directly, His providence is visible in reversals that preserve the Jewish nation.
Esther becomes queen of Persia after a series of events that place her near the center of imperial power. Her Jewish identity is initially hidden, while her cousin Mordecai uncovers a plot against the king.
Haman’s hatred of Mordecai grows into a plan to destroy all Jews in the empire. Esther risks approaching the king without invitation, calls her people to fast, and uses courage and wisdom to expose the plot.
The story turns through dramatic reversals: Haman falls, Mordecai is honored, and the Jewish people are delivered. Purim commemorates this rescue, celebrating providence that operates even when God’s action is not openly named.
Esther invites readers to consider courage, providence, deliverance and to respond to God with thoughtful faith and faithful action. Its message contributes to the Bible’s larger story of creation, covenant, redemption, and the hope ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
Scripture quotations are from the King James Version (KJV).
