Luke

Luke carefully tells the story of Jesus as Savior for all people, especially the overlooked and needy. Jesus seeks the lost, teaches prayer and compassion, dies innocently, rises, and prepares witnesses empowered by God.

Luke begins with carefully arranged accounts of John the Baptist’s and Jesus’ births. Songs of praise celebrate God’s faithfulness, while Jesus’ early ministry announces good news for the poor, captive, excluded, and spiritually needy.

A long journey toward Jerusalem contains distinctive parables such as the Good Samaritan, the Lost Son, and the Rich Man and Lazarus. Prayer, the Holy Spirit, joy, repentance, and God’s concern for outsiders appear repeatedly.

Jesus is crucified as an innocent Savior who extends mercy even while suffering. After rising, He explains the Scriptures, restores hope, and prepares the disciples to become witnesses, leading directly into Luke’s second volume, Acts.

Luke invites readers to consider salvation, compassion, holy spirit and to respond to God with thoughtful faith and faithful action. Its message contributes to the Bible’s larger story of creation, covenant, redemption, and the hope ultimately fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
