Moses addressed Israel before the people entered the land promised to their ancestors. His words recalled the journey and called the next generation to trust and obey God.

Israel was called to love the LORD wholeheartedly and teach His words diligently to children. Conversation at home and along the way could pass faith to another generation.

Moses urged Israel to remember how God sustained them in the wilderness and taught them to depend on His word. Manna and the promise of a fruitful land called for gratitude rather than pride.

Moses publicly encouraged Joshua as he prepared to lead Israel into the land. The LORD would go before him and would not forsake him.

From Mount Nebo, Moses saw the land God had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He would not enter it, but his leadership had brought Israel to its threshold.
